the port of Whampoa; (3) rehabilitation

of the Chinese section of the Kowloon-

Canton Railway; and (4) construction

of a loop-line connecting the Canton-

Hankow and Kowloon-Canton Railways.

2. As regards the completion of the

Canton-Hankow railway, Lord Passfield

of the 2nd August, that the Chinese

contemplate the

Government have determined to use the bulk use the bulk

of the returned Boxer Indemnity funds for

this purpose. Action on the part of His

Majesty's Government in the United Kingdon

therefore appear to be unnecessary.
